- The McCollom Community has
voted to support standardized dress.
- The following policy was adopted by the
Site Council on May 5, 1998.
- The policy was initiated the first day of
the 1998-1999 school year.
- Updates were made September
1998, May 2000, May 2003, May 2005 and May 2008.

Tailored or fitted
pants, shorts, skorts, skirts or jumpers in tan or navy will be worn.- Pants,
shorts, skorts and skirts may or may not have elastic in the waist and
may or may not have a zipper.
- Stretch pants, or athletic/sweat pants
will not be allowed. Leggings of solid standardized dress color may be worn
under skirts.
- Capri pants will be allowed.
- Brand labels located in the waist area above
the hip pockets will be allowed.
- Corduroy (tan or navy in color) will be allowed.
- Overalls are not allowed.
- Blue denim will not be allowed. Tan denim will
be allowed.
- Pant legs may NOT
touch the floor. Pants must be
hemmed and may not be turned up, turned under or be bunched above the
shoes. Hemmed cuffs are allowed.
- Shorts, skorts, skirts or jumpers will be no
shorter than four inches above the knee.
Shorts may be no longer than the bottom of the knee.
- Sagging (the wearing of pants, shorts, etc.
below the waistline) will not be allowed.
- Belts, if worn, must be in belt loops.
- Patches are acceptable if they are the same
color as the garment and neatly applied.
- Cargo pants are acceptable if they follow the
guidelines listed above.

Shirts, blouses and
sweaters will be solid white, red, navy or light blue/chambray (denim).
- Only apparel brand
name logos are allowed; i.e. Arizona, Hunt Club, Izod.
- Shirts and blouses will be worn Monday through
Thursday. Shirts and blouses must have a collar. Turtleneck and mock
turtlenecks are considered collars.
- McCollom t-shirts and sweatshirts may be worn
on Fridays
with jeans.
- Sweaters and ponchos
(white, red, light blue/chambray, navy) without
collars may be worn only if layered over a collared shirt.
- Plain sweatshirts without designs or logos
(white, red, light blue/chambray, navy) or approved “McCollom”
sweatshirts may be worn when layered over a collared shirt. Solid
colored hooded sweatshirts in navy, red, white or light blue and
McCollom hoodies may be worn in the building.
- Sweaters/sweatshirts may be worn untucked.
- Shirts, sweatshirts or sweaters are not to be
worn inside out.
- Oversized clothing will not be allowed; i.e. no
bunching at waist or shoes, sweatshirts and sweaters no longer than hip
length.

Additional
Information. - Uniforms for Brownies/Girl Scouts
that include a vest or sash may be worn over standardized dress shirts.
Matching uniform skirts or shorts (dark brown or green) may be worn in
place of standardized dress bottoms on meeting days. Other Brownie/Girl
Scout attire (sweatshirts, t-shirts, leggings, etc.) will not be
allowed.
- All clothing is to be free of large holes, rips
or frayed edges.
- Shoes are required, but must be tied and worn
correctly. Shoes must be appropriate for school activities.
- Clothing, buttons, jewelry or other items which
may contain vulgar words or pictures or promote the use of alcohol,
illegal substances, weapons or sexual content will not be allowed.
- Standardized dress will be required on field
trips unless pre-approved by the Principal.
- Standardized dress will not be required for
evening or weekend activities; i.e., skate parties.
- Special dress days will be designated by the
PTO and approved by the staff.

Not following the
standardized dress policy will result in: - Phone
call to parent to bring appropriate clothing to school.
- Change of clothing loaned from clothing closet
(must be laundered and returned the next day).

standardized dress presents a financial hardship, parents may contact
our
school social worker for assistance.
