Meet the Library Staff

Kristi Grant, Librarian
Welcome to McCollom Elementary! My name is Kristi Grant and I am the Library Media Specialist. I am honored to be able to introduce students to the joy of reading. If kids don't like to read, I believe it's just because they haven't found their interests yet. I see each student 1-2 times a week in the library teaching lifelong skills in reading, informational literacy, digital citizenship, research and much more!
I have been teaching since 2008. I started as a classroom teacher in 2nd grade and worked my way up every grade to 5th grade. Then I took a leap to middle school and taught 7th grade ELA. I completed my Masters Degree as a Reading Specialist and completed my ESOL licensure before becoming a Library Media Specialist.
Outside of work I practice what I preach, as reading is my favorite pastime. My husband and I have been married for about 25 years and have raised three amazing children. Now I have grandchildren that I want to spoil!
Guide to Book Care
- Keep your books in a safe place.
- Return your books on time.
- Do not eat or drink while reading library books.
- Wash and dry your hands before reading library books.
- Keep books away from pets and little ones. They do not know how to take care of books!
- Never draw or write in a library book!
- Always use a bookmark!
- If the library book has been damaged, bring it to your librarian. They will repair it if they can. DO NOT REPAIR THE BOOK YOURSELF! Your librarian has the right tools and training to fix books.
- If you lose your book or it is damaged while in your care, you will need to pay to replace it. Talk to your librarian.
